Memory Lane Café could not exist without the generosity of our supporters. Local businesses, charities and volunteers give their time, skills and resources to help us bring comfort and joy to our community.

Crane Building Services and Utilities

Volunteers from Crane Building Services and Utilities in Ipswich have been supporting Memory Lane Café since 2022. Our volunteers love helping out at the café, chatting to members, helping to serve refreshments, and joining in with the activities – particularly building relationships with the members, knowing they are making a difference.

One volunteer, Ben Dowsing, shared:
“I have volunteered with Memory Lane Café a few times and enjoy the experience more each time as I have started to build some good relationships with the participants. The event has personal meaning to me as my Grandma suffered with dementia, so it has become very important to me to be able to help where I can and be able to volunteer where it is really appreciated. The most impactful part of the experience for me is definitely seeing the smiles on their faces. I feel it is very valuable for the Company to allow me time to do this during the workday as this is not an event that I could easily help with in the evenings, and it also teaches me life skills and experiences that I would not get in a normal working day at Crane.”

Crane is committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work. As part of our commitment, associates throughout Crane volunteer to provide “support in kind” by dedicating their time to a wide variety of meaningful projects in their local communities. Crane supports these efforts by providing paid time away from work for associates to give back to their communities.

DanceEast – Care to Dance Programme

DanceEast run a dance and movement programme for people living with dementia and their carers called Care to Dance. Key to this programme are the community partnerships that we build with organisations like Memory Lane Café Ipswich.
Their support enables us to deliver the programme at Memory Lane Café, and in return, we seek and secure external funding so it can be offered at zero or very low cost.

Suffolk Family Carers

Suffolk Family Carers has been a supporter of Memory Lane Ipswich since the group started. We can provide general information and emotional support and help carers to find other organisations that can help them, as required.

We can also support individual carers with longer, private conversations, to listen and understand their particular needs or worries. From this, we can help to construct a plan which may include onward referral for a Carers Assessment, completion of a Family Carer Emergency Plan or how to get a Safer Homes check, to name but a few.

There is a monthly newsletter, delivered by email, which contains our latest news, as well as articles on helpful topics. The Events page of our website holds information on groups and workshops that may help you in your caring role.

Suffolk Family Carers is an independent charity that has supported family carers for over 35 years – Our Adult Services are commissioned by Suffolk County Council and the NHS.
